Contractor was a student and a dancer of classical style in Toronto. In the Etobicoke School of the Arts (a public high school that specializes in arts), Contractor studied both ballet and theater. When she graduated from high school, Contractor accepted a scholarship at the University of Toronto to pursue a dual major in psychology and sociology. Contractor was a student who'd spent a year in university and auditioned at an open call for Pericles which was held at the highly acclaimed Stratford Shakespeare Festival, [Ontario Canadawhich she won the part.
